One coolroom trailer for hire

We hire out one trailer mounted coolroom, 3m x 2m, running at coolroom temperatures only. We deliver it, set it up, check it is holding temperature, and come back for it when you are done.

The trailer

Run by Select Coolrooms & Construction, coolroom builders in Penrith with 15+ years in the trade. We're adding real photos of this exact trailer below.

When people hire it

Most hire calls are one of these six. If yours is not on the list it is still worth asking.

Most common

A room has failed

The compressor stops, the temperature climbs, and a coolroom full of stock is now on a clock. The trailer holds chilled stock on site while the fault gets sorted, rather than forcing a rushed repair. Anything that has to stay frozen needs a freezer unit, which this is not.

Planned

The room is out for works

Rebuilds, extensions and shop fitouts all mean the permanent room is offline for days or weeks. Trading does not have to stop for it.

Seasonal

More stock than space

Christmas, Easter, a long weekend, a catering contract that landed bigger than expected. Extra cold storage for the weeks you need it and not the eleven months you do not.

Events

Functions and weddings

A venue fridge is sized for that venue's normal service. Two hundred plated meals plus the drinks overruns it, and the trailer parks behind the marquee to take the overflow.

Markets

Stalls and food trucks

Weekend markets, festivals and pop-ups with no cold storage on the site. By mid-morning the eskies have given up and the trailer has not.

Trade

Site and project work

Short term cold storage on construction and industrial sites, including jobs where the permanent room has not been commissioned yet.

Where we deliver

Penrith is home, so Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains are the short runs. Newcastle is inside the delivery area, along with everywhere else listed here.

Delivery is quoted on distance rather than charged as a flat fee. Give us the suburb and postcode when you enquire, not the city, and the number comes back right the first time.

What turns up

The trailer arrives with its own gear, so there is nothing for you to hire or source separately. Delivery and a generator are quoted rather than thrown in.

What it costs

Three things move the number: how long you need it, how far it has to travel, and whether you need a generator.

Plan on a three day minimum, then weekly and longer term pricing as a job stretches out to a renovation or a seasonal run. Breakdowns and planned hires get quoted on different bases, because urgency and duration pull opposite ways on price.

A three day emergency drop in Penrith and a month long hire in Newcastle are two different jobs, so there is no price list here and no made up range either. One short call gets you the number for yours.

How the hire runs

  1. Tell us the job

What you are storing, how much of it, where it is going and what power is there. Two minutes on the phone settles it.

  2. We deliver and set it up

Positioned, connected and left holding the right temperature. You are not signing for something and working it out yourself.

  3. You use it

Temperature control looks after itself. If something needs attention mid hire, you ring the same people who dropped it off.

  4. We take it away

Collected from site at the end of the agreed period. Clear the stock, give it a general clean, and that is the end of it.

Questions we get asked

How fast can you get a coolroom to me?

There is one hire trailer, so it comes down to whether it is already out. If a room has failed and stock is on the line, ring rather than fill in the form. Breakdowns jump the queue ahead of scheduled work, and same day can happen depending on where you are. For a planned job, a fitout, a market or an event, book as early as you can, because one unit books out.

Will it keep running if the power goes out?

Not on its own. The trailer runs off mains power, so a blackout stops it the same as it stops anything else. Say so when you enquire if the site has unreliable power or you are hiring because of an outage, and a generator can be arranged to run alongside it.

Do you deliver to Newcastle?

Yes. Newcastle is inside the delivery area, along with Sydney, Western Sydney, Penrith, St Marys, the Blue Mountains and Wollongong. The trailer runs out of Penrith and delivery is quoted on distance, so a Newcastle job and a Penrith job do not cost the same to get on site.

Can I hire a freezer rather than a coolroom?

Not from the hire trailer. It runs at coolroom temperatures only and does not switch to freezer. Tell us what you are storing and the temperature it has to be held at before anything is booked, so nobody finds out on delivery day that it was the wrong answer.

Can I hire one for a private party or a wedding?

Yes. The practical things to sort out are where the trailer will sit, whether there is a power point within reach of it, and how long you need it either side of the event for loading and clearing.

What is the shortest I can hire one for?

Around three days is the usual minimum, with weekly and longer rates for extended jobs like a renovation or a seasonal run. Breakdowns get handled case by case, because in that situation the job is getting your stock cold again.

Where does it need to go on site?

Somewhere firm and close to level that a vehicle can reach and reverse into, with a power point within about 15 to 20 metres. Flag it early if the only spot is a footpath, nature strip or public road rather than your own property, because that is where a council permit can come into it.

What condition does it need to be in when you collect it?

Empty of stock and given a quick wipe out, the way you would hand back any hire gear. We do the pickup ourselves, so there is nothing for you to return or drop anywhere.
